DENVER – Talmadge LeCroy of the University of South Carolina baseball team has signed a free-agent deal with the Colorado Rockies, it was announced this afternoon (Monday, July 13).
LeCroy, a catcher from Belton, S.C., ended his career in sixth place in games played (230) and in fourth place in bases on balls (131) in Carolina history. He led the Gamecocks with a .263 batting average in 2026 and had 30 runs scored, nine doubles, eight home runs and 31 RBI. LeCroy led the team with 30 walks and was hit by six pitches. LeCroy was a two-time Buster Posey Award Watch List member and was named to the 2023 All-NCAA Columbia Regional, helping that squad to the 2023 Gainesville Super Regional.
LeCroy will join an organization that is full of Gamecocks. TJ Shook, Jack Mahoney, Cole Messina and Braylen Wimmer are all in the Rockies organization, Shook with Triple-A Albuquerque and Mahoney, Messina and Wimmer with Hartford.
LeCroy joins Amp Phillips, who was drafted yesterday in the 15th round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft by Tampa Bay.
