Channing Frye shared a hilarious story of a former Phoenix Suns teammate who would arrive at games with several pairs of shoes.

NBA players are a brotherhood. Spending so much time together away from their families, players often form strong bonds with their teammates and even their rivals.

Because of these strong relationships, several players end up sharing stories, anecdotes, and fleeting moments of laughter amongst themselves.

When current and former players lift the curtain and share these stories with fans, it allows the general audience to get a glimpse of life as an NBA player.

And the story that Channing Frye just shared about a former Phoenix Suns teammate might be one of the funniest we’ve heard in recent memory.

Channing Frye reveals PJ Tucker would bring several shoes to Phoenix Suns games

Channing Frye told a hilarious story on the latest episode of the Road Trippin podcast. He revealed that his former Phoenix Suns teammate, PJ Tucker, had quite an interesting habit.

Tucker would travel with 50-100 pairs of shoes, according to Frye. And before the game, he would go through all the shoes, before picking one pair to play with.

“The person who had the most, and I felt bad for the equipment manager, was PJ Tucker. PJ Tucker had four bags, four huge bags. We’re talking he traveled, this is no lie, 50 to 100 pairs of shoes.

“PJ, in front of his locker, would have four bags with 25 shoes in it, of every single shoe you ever seen in your life, he would just be like, okay, these, go warm up.

“They might break, put them back. Get another pair. I’m not feeling these. Get another pair. He goes through four or five pairs of shoes in the game. It was crazy.”

PJ Tucker is looking for his next NBA team

While PJ Tucker might have an insane amount of basketball shoes, he doesn’t currently have an NBA team he can wear those shoes for.

Tucker is 40 years old and last played for the New York Knicks. After two 10-day stints, Tucker signed a two-year deal with the Knicks.

But they turned down his player option, despite Tucker’s popularity among his Knicks teammates.

Tucker is one of the oldest NBA free agents remaining, as he looks to continue his career in the league. Hopefully, he can find a team before the season begins.
