Former Chicago Bulls star has strong take on Josh Giddey’s future, ‘you don’t want to be…’

Giddey was among the top free agents this summer. Despite that, the 22-year-old is yet to finalize a contract extension with the Bulls.

A key reason behind it is the Bulls’ reluctance to offer Giddey a massive deal that would see him make around $30m per season.

One way to resolve Giddey and Bulls’ stalemate would be to trade the talented guard. After all, Giddey averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game last season.

Any team in the league would benefit from these near triple-double stats on any given night. In fact, the Golden State Warriors have been tipped as a potential trade suitor for Giddey.

However, former Bulls star Stacey King is completely against the team parting ways with Giddey after a single season.

“I’m vetoing that. Sending Giddey anywhere. For a kid that young, that has such a high upside, he’s going to be a very good player in this league, whether he’s playing for the Bulls or anywhere.

“You don’t want to be in that ‘regret mode’, like we gave up this guy over a couple of million dollars here and there,” King said via Gimme The Hot Sauce podcast.

Giddey’s latest stance on his stalemate with the Bulls is obviously full of frustration. This is completely understandable as the Bulls dragging out the extension talks is only hurting his value.

Coming back to King’s statement, he wants the Bulls to understand that Giddey is a walking triple-double, and they should show some faith in the 22-year-old.

“At the end of the day, this guy’s a walking triple-double. There aren’t too many guys in this league that you can say that, every single night he’s going to be floating around a triple-double.

“We gotta have some faith in this guy,” King stated with confidence.

Will the Bulls listen to King’s advice or allow Giddey to leave? Only time will tell.
