Larry Nance Jr. looked back on his time with LeBron James, and what convinced him he was the best to ever do it.

LeBron James is considered by many to be the greatest of all time. The four-time NBA champion has become an icon and a stalwart of the NBA.

James entered the NBA in 2003 and immediately established himself as a star. After LeBron won Rookie of the Year in 2004, he was off to the races.

Since then, he has been a perennial All-Star and All-NBA player. Even at the age of 40, James is still going and is one of the best players in the league today.

With a career spanning over 20 years, LeBron has had a lot of amazing moments. But which one cemented him as the GOAT? His former teammate, Larry Nance Jr., recently gave his verdict.

Larry Nance Jr. says 2016 NBA title made LeBron James the GOAT

Cleveland Cavaliers star Larry Nance Jr. was a guest on the Rich Eisen show recently. When talking about LeBron James, Nance Jr. explained why he thinks of him as the greatest ever.

He then explained how James has set the standard for greatness in the NBA and shown people that there is no route to the top that doesn’t involve hard work.

“He was, in my opinion, the greatest of all time at that point. The ring in Cleveland did that for me.

“He’s the best on the team, he’s the best in the league, but he’s still the first one that should be the last one to leave. And I think it just speaks to how good you want to be?

“If you want to be what everybody else is, if you want to do whatever every other team does, then great, do the median.

“But if you want to be great, if you want to excel, if you want to, you know, reach the heights, the highest heights that you can, it’s got to be consistent.

Larry Nance Jr. uses the King to motivate next generation of stars

The former Cavaliers star pointed to his 2016 NBA championship win as the turning point in the GOAT debate.

Nance Jr. also applauded James’ work ethic, saying he tries to instill that into the young stars of today.

“Your best players are supposed to set the culture. That’s something that I’ve tried to teach some of the younger guys that I’ve worked with in New Orleans, with Zion and Trey Murphy, and some of the guys.

“If you’re going to set a culture anywhere, it’s got to start from the top down. And that’s one thing that he certainly did [in Cleveland].”

Of course, LeBron James isn’t the only legendary star Nance Jr. got to share a locker room with. He was also teammates with Kobe Bryant, who probably also inspired him in a similar way.

James, for many of today’s players, is the standard bearer for success. What he has been able to achieve over his 20+ year career has been nothing short of phenomenal.
