KANSAS CITY, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches has announced that South Carolina senior Alexander Stjernegaard has been named to its NCAA Division I Men’s Midfielders to Watch list for the 2025 season.
Stjernegaard joined the Gamecocks this fall as a transfer from conference foe Marshall. Over the last two seasons with the Thundering Herd, he played in 40 matches and earned 35 starts. He registered three goals and 10 assists for 16 points. Two of his goals came as game winners. As a freshman at Quinnipiac, Stjernegaard was named the MAAC Rookie of the Year. He led the Bobcats with 13 assists and four goals. He added three multi-assist game including a three-assists game against Iona. He ranked fourth in the nation in total assists and sixth in assists per game.
The lists are compiled and released by the Division I All-America Committees to promote college soccer leading up to the official start date for the regular season later this month. The lists include United Soccer Coaches All-Americans and All-Region players from 2024 who are scheduled to return for the 2025 season.
