Thompson High School is hosting Alabama High School Football Media Days.

(WBRC) ALABASTER, Alabama – In a few weeks, Alabama‘s football season will begin, and Sideline will be back.

On Monday and Tuesday, teams from all around the state gathered in the Thompson High School Performing Arts Center to discuss the upcoming campaign. The first of two games at the 2023 AHSAA Kickoff Classic in Montgomery will be played on Thursday, August 24, between Selma and Beauregard in Class 5A. The second game will be played between Opelika and the defending champions Thompson in Class 7A.

This year’s competition includes several new head coaches, such Clarence Williams of Woodlawn, and clubs like Ramsay will try to win the title again.

Richard Bevill, head of defense for Ramsay, claimed that to repeat would be to contradict oneself. “I’m not sure when it last occurred in 5A. We want to take advantage of that opportunity and are genuinely excited.

Practices for the autumn season officially start on August 7.
