The Major League Baseball’s 2026 season has hit the All-Star Break. Here’s a recap of how the former Gamecocks are doing in the “Show.”
• Carlos Cortes (Athletics) – Cortes got off to a hot start in his 2026 season and is now hitting .279 with 20 runs scored, 11 doubles, six home runs and 23 RBI for the Athletics. He has a .788 OPS in 73 games played. Cortes had five hits in the series against the Miami Marlins (July 3-5) with a pair of doubles and an RBI.
• Brett Kerry (Los Angeles Angels) – Kerry made his Major League debut for the Los Angeles Angels on June 17 in a game at Arizona. Kerry threw four innings of relief, allowing two runs with a pair of strikeouts.
• Carmen Mlodzinski (Pittsburgh Pirates) – Mlodzinski is having a solid year for the Pirates in 20 appearances and nine starts. Mlodzinski is 6-3 with a 3.24 ERA, a pair of saves and 64 strikeouts in 80.2 innings pitched. He earned a win in his last appearance against the Milwaukee Brewers on July 11, striking out a pair and allowing just one run in three innings of work.
• Jordan Montgomery (Texas Rangers) – Montgomery has been making rehab starts in the Texas Rangers organization. In five starts between Frisco and Round Rock, Montgomery has 11 strikeouts and allowed three runs in 12 innings of work.
• Clarke Schmidt (New York Yankees) – Schmidt also has not pitched in the Major Leagues this year as he is coming back from injury.
• TJ Shook (Colorado Rockies) – Shook made his Major League debut with the Colorado Rockies on June 2, pitching a scoreless inning at the Los Angeles Angels. Shook has made four appearances for the Rockies in a pair of MLB stints. He has six strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work.
• Christian Walker (Houston Astros) – Walker has had another great season for the Houston Astros, as he is hitting .237 with 50 runs scored, 19 doubles, 20 home runs and 58 RBI. Walker has a .775 OPS in 96 games played, mostly at first base. He was 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles against Detroit on June 27.
