Joshua vs. Prenga press conference set ahead of comeback fight

Anthony Joshua and Kristian Prenga met the press ahead of their July 25 heavyweight clash in Riyadh, with the former unified champion returning to the ring for the first time since a car crash in Nigeria last year.

Joshua enters as a heavy favourite against the 21-1 regional contender, a mismatch promoter Lou DiBella made no effort to defend when speaking with Ariel Helwani. “Does Prenga belong near Anthony Joshua? He doesn’t belong in the same friggin’ gym,” DiBella said, per MMA Mania. “Doesn’t belong in the same state or country. He doesn’t belong in a sparring session.”

DiBella went further, calling Prenga unsuitable even as a sparring partner for top heavyweights despite the challenger’s knockout record. Joshua’s team views the fight as a warm-up before a planned year-end showdown with Tyson Fury, according to reports.

The press conference stream went live at 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday. The Riyadh card airs Saturday night.
